Recap

           • A green job contributes to and sustains the transition to ecologically-sustainable modes of production and
           consumption.
           • Green jobs, also known as green-collar jobs, are jobs in agricultural, administrative, research and development,
industrial, and service sectors that contribute significantly to protecting or restoring environmental quality.
           • A green-collar worker is someone who works in the economy's environmental areas.
           • Professionals such as green building architects, environmental consultants, waste management or recycling managers,
environmental or biological systems engineers, landscape architects, solar and wind energy engineers and installers,
green vehicle engineers, organic farmers, environmental lawyers, and businessmen dealing with green services or
products are examples of green-collar workers.
           • The government, in collaboration with business partners, is promoting energy awareness and technologies for energy
efficiency, influencing consumer behaviour, and establishing energy codes.
           • To overcome the skilled labour shortage, the Indian government is looking at long-term development. The Ministry
of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has established the ‘Green Jobs Skill Council’.
           • ‘Make in India’ is intended to encourage investment, accelerate innovation, improve talent development, safeguard
intellectual property, and construct best manufacturing structures.

           • Organic farming, which avoids synthetic pesticides and fertilizers, helps maintain soil health, prevent water pollution,
and protect beneficial insects and organisms.
           • Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) provide valuable training and technological support to farmers and local youth,
encouraging sustainable practices such as agro-waste collection, storage, and reuse.
           • The shift towards fuel-efficient automobiles and alternative fuels is creating numerous green job opportunities in the
           transportation sector.
           • The Ministry of Power’s Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) is driving the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) by
building a market for sustainable transport solutions.
           • Green jobs are essential in creating toxin-free homes by promoting sustainable construction, renewable energy, and
           eco-friendly materials.
           • Photovoltaic (PV) Installers play a crucial role in setting up and maintaining solar panels on residential, commercial,
           and industrial properties.
           • Eco-friendly tourism destinations create a positive impact by offering experiences in protected areas, wildlife reserves,
and cultural heritage sites while ensuring minimal environmental disruption.
           • Green building design focuses on using sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, and eco-friendly construction
           techniques.
           • Green jobs in solid waste management focus on sustainable waste handling practices, including e-waste recycling,
waste reduction, waste auditing, and waste control.
           • Appropriate technology promotes small-scale, eco-friendly innovations that use locally available resources to meet
           community needs sustainably.
           • E-waste management is essential for handling discarded electronic devices like mobile phones, laptops, and televisions
           in an environmentally responsible manner.
           • Forests help prevent landslides, wetlands control floods, and healthy soils absorb carbon, reducing greenhouse gas
           emissions.
           • The Government of India's National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC), launched in 2008, outlines eight missions
focused on renewable energy, water conservation, sustainable agriculture, and ecosystem protection.
